Today is Day 9 for "Daddy's Candy," the Divine Digital Download a Day kit. I'm up as the featured designer so that means freebies everywhere today and a special deal on two new products that I put in the store last night. But first, if you haven't been to my store this weekend, here are some new products, all on sale for 50% off----great designer deals. Click on any of these images to get to the product in the store......
Now, I can't exit blogger without mentioning the fantastic quickpage we made with the "Blog Me" challenge at Divine Digital. I will be posting the quickpage we made during the first round later today and you will be able to get it for free in the designer sampler section of the Divine Digital boutique. So now that the first quickpage is done, we're moving on to quickpage 2 and we need 12 bloggers to go with us.
Up for the challenge? Click on the frog image to learn more.....
And while I wait for my freebie to upload to 4shared, here are some pics.....
I took these at the end of April at an Amish school near Altoona, Pennsylvania. My babysitter's sister (yes, my sitter is Amish) is the teacher at the one room school house and while they can't take photos of each other, they can ask someone to take them. So they asked me and of course I jumped at the chance. It was a really neat experience to visit the school, see the kids---24 kids from five families in six different grades including preschool--all learning in one room. They had like six pet gerbils and my boys had a ton of fun playing with them. Their lesson books were handmade by their elders and they were learning to read by reading stories about horses and buggies. Their spelling words were also very unique----farm words, biblical words, etc. Very interesting! No computers, nothing at all like the classrooms in our modern world. Their favorite activity during recess was softball and there was a game going on for the older students and another for the younger students. The girls played and even in their dresses they slid into home plate and skinned their knees without flinching! I was pretty impressed. On nice days they take their lessons out in the field, which is where some of these photos were shot....enjoy!! Only the first photo has been retouched as I have been too busy with my design work to work on these photos!
Have a great day and enjoy the freebies. I'll be back on Thursday with Day 12 downloads.
Best,
Cyndi

Hi Cyndi!
First, thank you for the add-ons to the DD at Divine! I'm loving this months DD!! :)
Second, I was wondering if you had any plans on making an Amish kit? My family used to go to Lancaster County, PA every year for our summer vacations (my Parents still do!) and we have TONS of pictures of the Amish farmland, horse&buggies, windmills, and their artwork. I would LOVE to have a kit to scrap all of these wonderful childhood memories! I am asking because of your involvement with the Amish and I believe you would create a spectacular kit!! If you have no plans, do you know of any other Amish scrapkits out there?
Thank you so much for your time and creativity! I am quickly becoming a HUGE fan of your designs and photography!! You have an amazing talent!

Beautiful photos Cindy! I thought they wouldn't allow any photos at all of themselves! We saw a buggy coming down the road on vacation one year and I didn't photograph it because I thought they would not like that! I still wish I had that photo! Thanks for the DD and the extra!!

I LOVE the Amish photo! I immediately thought of those little girls and "the quiet milkman" when I saw those girl' lying on the grass with their bare feet. That made me think of their love and forgiveness in that situation and what a tremndous example they are for us! Thanks for the reminder! And thanks for all you do and for your great freebies!

Hi Cyndi,
first of all a huge Thank You for all the beautiful stuff we can find on your blog.
I really enjoyed your amish-pictures, over here in germany we really don't know anything about amish, we've just heard the word somewhere, that's all. it seems to be a very different world and very interesting, thank you for those pictures.it looks like a very natural live and looking at those pictures i think it would be great to be able to go back to such a world sometimes.
Thanks for all you give to us
