Well, I'm first up for the Divine Digital "Passionately Pink Blog Party."

So while I was driving my sons to preschool I was trying to think of something "pink" that I love/like/have/need in my life. The first thing that came to my mind is Baskin Robbin's Pink Bubblegum ice cream. I just love it. Have loved it since I was a kid. I remember going to get ice cream at Baskin Robbins and getting a cone of Pink Bubblegum ice cream, spitting all the gum pieces into a napkin so I'd have a whole mouth of gum to chew when the ice cream was gone. Now that I don't have a Baskin Robbins anywhere near me, I miss it. So that is my "pink" thing of the day. Pink Bubblegum ice cream. Yum!

Now, something I am passionate about. I guess you could say that I am a very passionate person. Not passionate strictly in the romantic sense, but passionate about things in my life that are important to me---my family, my beliefs, my ideals, etc. Today I decided to blog about my passion for reading. Ever since I was able to read I've been passionate books. I would rather read than do just about anything when I have some free time (which isn't all that often now that I have two little ones). I was the girl with the flashlight under the covers trying to read past my bedtime. And I was the girl who always had more books than she could carry checked out of the library. My love of reading stems from my family I guess. My grandfather, who was very eccentric, was an avid reader and an admirer of spelling and vocabulary. He did the New York Times crossword puzzle in ink and never made a mistake. My memories of him reading and his emphasis on the English language are probably where I learned to love words---fiction, nonfiction, poetry, etc. In additon to my grandfather, both my parents are avid readers. My father leans more to the nonficton aisle of the bookstore and my mother and I tend to head towards the fiction. But whatever book I am reading I am passionate about it. And I can never go to sleep at night without reading. I have to read, even if I am dead tired, I'll pick up my book and read for a little bit. It is my "take me away" time. And I'm passionate about it.

Before I move on to my passionate list of books I love, I will share my favorite poem by Mark Strand:

Keeping Things Whole by Mark Strand

In a field

I am the absence of field.

This is

always the case.

Wherever I am

I am what is missing.

When I walk

I part the air

and always

the air moves into fill the spaces

where my body's been.

We all have reasons

for moving.

I move

to keep things whole.

Now, here are just a few books (LOL) that are my all time favorites--fiction, nonfiction and poetry:

--this is a book I read at least twice a year, that is how much I love it!

Kathryn by Anya Seton

Green Darkness by Anya Seton

Wanderers Eastward, Wanderers West by Kathleen Winsor

Dragonwyck by Anya Seton

Teaching with Fire: Poetry That Sustains the Courage to Teach

And now, here is my "Passionately Pink" freebie for today. I will have one tomorrow and Friday, too. This is personal use only, and please comment when you download and share with me something you like that is pink! Click on the preview to download!

See you tomorrow for another passionate pink blog party day.

Best,

Cyndi

I'm going to love that. I love pink.

When I think of pink I think about my pink rubber duckie which is a symbol of a one year relationship with my boyfriend.

When I think about pink I think of a fabulous pink shirt that I used to own and adore. Unfortunately I wasn't wearing it when our house burned so I no longer have it but it was always my most favorite shirt. I am most passionate about education and reading is a close second. I loved Sarum -- one of my favorite books. Thanks for the lovely PPP favor. Hugs!!!
